Tokyo Anime Fair
The Tokyo Anime Fair, also called TAF, is the world's largest fair Anime exhibition. If you are a fan of Japanese animation and comic books you cannot miss this appointment! You will watch the new Animes and learn more about how they are created by looking at the representations made by the Anime companies, who will give you also useful tips on how to draw them!
Since 2002, the Tokyo International Anime Fair has taken place every spring at Tokyo Big Sight, the International Exhibition Center in Tokyo. It gets more than 250 companies together and is visited by around a million of people from all over the world.
During four days, you will enjoy trade fairs with boots exhibits hold by anime related companies, events like spectacular stage performances or theatre movie showings, and the prize giving of the Tokyo Anime Awards.
The Tokyo Anime Award is a competition sponsored by the Tokyo International Anime Fair. It has two broad entry categories: Nominated Works and Submitted Works which are respectively for works broadcast, screened or sold during the previous 12 months, and works solicited from general public with the aim of discovering fresh talent and human resources. There are also other categories like the one-million-yen Grand Prize, the Outstanding Work Award and the Business Award. The Awards Ceremony takes place during the TAF.
Each year, an official character is designed. He represents the Tokyo International Anime Fair and its philosophy. 2009 character's theme is "Wonders of Animation are Infinity".
On the Tokyo International Anime Fair you will also be able to attend cosplayers' role-playing games, which are really famous in Japan.
